Philanthropist and former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg launched the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use in low- and middle-income countries, where more than two-thirds of the world's smokers live.

With funds from the Bloomberg Initiative, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids jointly manages a grants program with the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. The program supports projects to develop and deliver high-impact, evidence-based tobacco control interventions.
